Grüner Veltliner Vordernberg is the flagship of our GV fleet, as well as also being the Veltliner that regularly receives the highest awards (the 2019 vintage, for example, won the Vinaria tasting in the category ‘Grüner Veltliner Premium’).
The vineyard features ancient vines that produce a very special wine. Their roots dig deeper and branch out further, to absorb more minerals than younger plants can do.
Although these vines yield less in the way of volume, they bring more complexity and refinement to the wine.
Depending on the vintage, we leave the grapes on the skins for a good five hours in the cellar, then ferment the must in large wooden casks and mature the wine on the fine lees for a year. The wine thus becomes quite opulent, almost creamy in texture.
Or, to quote Vinaria: A marquee-player of a wine with an impressive amount of power, fruit, finesse, strength, length and potential.
In addition to the current 2021 vintage, we also have a few bottles from the 2020 and 2018 vintages, as well as various bulk bottles (1.5 and 3l) in stock.
