The vineyards of Ried Tiefenthal are planted in loess and face southeast, which means that the plants receive the sunshine early and can then cool off early in the evening, which helps the vines to retain acidity more effectively. First-class conditions for Riesling! Most of the vines are 25–30 years old, but there are also older ones in the mix, some of which are fifty years of age.
In the cellar, after a short period of maceration we let the wine ferment in stainless steel tanks and allow it to mature there on the fine lees until mid-April. Year after year, the result is a clear, elegant Riesling with aromas of stone fruit, vibrant minerality and extensive potential for cellaring.
