The Vinaria Weinguide is updated annually and recently came out with the 2023/24 edition. The wineries listed, described and rated here represent the qualitative top of Austrian viticulture. Whether one or five crowns: these top 400 are the elite of the country, the vinophile flagships at home and abroad.
At the absolute top, the air is thin. Only 32 winemakers, who have proven themselves at the top for many years, hold the highest rating for wineries, 5 crowns. Up to now, our winery could be happy about 4 crowns, but from this year on, we belong to the absolute top: The Vinaria editors awarded us 5 crowns for the first time!
2 x 5 stars for our wines
But not enough with the highest rating at the wineries. The Vinaria wine guide also rates wines, of course, and the highest rating here is 5 stars. Two wines from us – Grüner Veltliner Ried Vordernberg 1ÖTW and Riesling Ried Vordernberg 1ÖTW – received the maximum here. By the way, our sister winery Vorspannhof Mayr was also awarded two times 5 stars.
Quote Vinaria:
“A special feat succeeded once again probably the most successful winemaker in Austria at the moment, Silke Mayr from the Kremstal: She runs two wineries under one roof, Buchegger and Vorspannhof Mayr, got a total of 4 x 5 stars, with both wineries two each. A more than worthy climber to the Olympus of the 5 crowns!”
