As of this vintage our popular Grüner Veltliner Holzgasse has a new name: Buchegger HG. HG stands for Holzgasse, an old cellar lane in Gedersdorf, where we have a large, lovely vineyard that has always furnished the grape material for our light-bodied Grüner Veltliner.

From the cellar lane to the brand-name

The wine became so successful that we needed greater volume, so began to source grapes from other vineyards as well. The name »Holzgasse«, however, which we had protected under trademark law, remained. Unfortunately, due to the new regulations regarding places of origin, we will have to part with our brand and this name from the 2022 vintage onward. Therefore, it will no longer be Grüner Veltliner Holzgasse, but Grüner Veltliner Buchegger HG. (Of course, we don’t mind if you continue to call it Holzgasse :-))

Buchegger HG – the new lightness of being, made wine

Apart from the name, nothing has changed. We take special care with our entry-level Veltliner, making sure that it is always a beautifully expressive, varietally typical wine in which you can taste the vintage. Uncomplicated, but showing a nice complexity. Stimulating, fresh and slightly peppery on the palate, but with balanced acidity. In a word: not a simple sort of a wine, but a real Buchegger wine!
